What STD can you get from being rimmed?

I had encounter with a person who performed anal licking (rim job) on my rectum. We had no intercourse orally or any other way. However, I’m still afraid I get STD from them by rimming my rectum?

I’m concerned and not sure if I need to get tested.

Please help.

Anal and oral mucosal regions may be susceptible to bacterial or viral infections. Transmission of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) may occur through oral-anal contact (rimming) whether the individual is giving or receiving the stimulation. The likelihood of transmission increases in presence of oral or anal lesions.

Several common STIs have been reported to spread through rimming, including:

- Herpes
- Gonorrhoeae
- Human papillomavirus (HPV)
- Hepatitis B and C
- Treponema pallidum

The risk of acquiring or transmitting human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) through rimming is considered low. However, exposure to bodily fluids may pose a potential risk. Antiretroviral therapy may lower the risk of transmission. The risk of acquiring HIV through oral-anal contact with an HIV-positive individual is also low, but higher in presence of oral or anal wounds.

As some STIs may present asymptomatically, routine STI testing is recommended for individuals who engage in sexual activities.

Rimming can potentially transmit various STDs, including herpes, gonorrhea, HPV, hepatitis, and syphilis. If an individual has an STD, they can spread it through rimming, either by performing the act or receiving it. The risk of transmission is higher if there are sores or warts present in the mouth or anus.

The risk of contracting or transmitting HIV through rim job is very low, but still possible if there is exposure to bodily fluids. However, individuals with cuts or wounds in their mouth or anus are more susceptible to contracting HIV.

Keep in mind that not all individuals with an STD exhibit symptoms, making it important to undergo regular STD testing if sexually active. This helps to protect both yourself and your partners.
